Magic Kingdom is an online video installation that addresses the lack of socioeconomic diversity at top US universities. The lack of socioeconomic diversity is a systemic issue in the US where many brilliant minds who are born poor are prevented from quality education and being able to enter top US universities. Income, education, and occupation are inherently tied together in the United States. The lack of racial and socioeconomic diversity in our nation's best ranking institutions of higher education is a distinctive feature of American governance and society. This makes no sense as the best quality education can only come when students from all corners of our society are represented. Comprised of three separate scheduled video releases, the installation documents the journey a group of Disney characters took on the first day of class to make people see the magic surrounding their admission to a top US university. Institutions of higher education are not addressing the lack of socioeconomic diversity on campus or the fact that SAT scores are highly correlated with family income. Therefore, this video series aims to highlight self-righteousness by placing similar objects close together for a resonating effect.
