JON, an Asian-American tech support guy, dreams of becoming an actor. Unfortunately, most of his auditions relegate him to stereotypical "Asian" parts - he's been a karate master more times than he can count. After coming in late from an audition for the hundredth time, his boss finally fires him. He's uncertain about his future, but when he meets his pretty new neighbor ANGIE, he knows he'll need to figure things out if he wants to stand a chance at winning her heart. Desperate to impress her, he tells her he's a successful actor. To make ends meet, Jon relies on his hidden talent for cooking, recreating his grandmother's favorite Thai recipes and selling noodles by the bowlful in a makeshift stand along the streets of Austin. As his Pad Thai gains popularity, his business takes off; he can hardly keep up with demand. Meanwhile, he must keep his new endeavor a secret from Angie. He's falling for her hard - how long can he keep up this charade? When Angie inevitably discovers the truth, she's hurt that he lied; she never cared about what he did for a living. With time, apologies, and lots of curry, Jon wins her back - at least, as a friend. Angie even helps Jon get a job as a chef on a reality show, marrying his passion for acting with his culinary talents.
