Vagn is an old fashioned and experienced primary school teacher that is well respected among his colleagues as one of the oldest teachers of the institution. One of Vagn's students is a young boy called Niklas, the young boy has a lot of energy that he gladly spends on fooling around and seeking attention from his classmates. This comes as a great frustration to Vagn and throughout the course of the film, Niklas restlessly pushes Vagn towards his limits. Parallel to the story in Vagn's professional environment, Vagn is experiencing a change in control privately as well, as his wife is getting more and more sick with dementia. Throughout the story we are presented to small leads indicating her condition, for example, when she defecate herself or where she almost sets the house on fire by forgetting to turn off the stove. Vagn's frustration over his situation goes increasingly over to Niklas witch keeps fooling around despite the fact that Vagn has strict rules in his class. One day Niklas completely oversteps Vagn's limit's witch turns into a situation where Vagn looses all self-control and ends up with furiously chasing Niklas all the way to his home where he enters his home and ends up slapping him. At that same moment, Vagn realizes what is happening, not only has he lost control professionally and privately, but he has also lost control over what he has kept sacred and valued the most throughout his life, his own self-control. After what happened Vagn sees that things have changed in his life and that he has no other choice than to go for the first time in his life and face his changing situation and accept his new reality.
