This short documentary chronicles the rise and fall of one of Austin's most unique and influential bands. Ed Hall released five albums between 1988 and 1995. Their mash-up of post-rock grunge earned the band a place in Richard Linklater's heart, and subsequently a role in Linklater's debut film Slacker. Ed Hall: the Unauthorized Story is the first film about this notable Texas rock and roll band. Part one of the film details the original four member lineup with Andy Colvin as lead vocalist. Part two covers the band's first three albums and also the appearance in Slacker. Part three concludes with Lyman Hardy replacing Kevin Whitley as the band's drummer for the final two albums. Ed Hall is a story of friendship as told through the eyes of this exciting band.
