A Date with a Stranger (2017)

On his return home from work, a meticulous lawyer, GARRETT, receives an work emergency phone call. He attempts to pacify his client's panic. In Garrett's efforts, he regrettably agrees to meet despite his evening dinner plans. Garrett's sudden schedule change reverberates throughout the household. RITA, a home caretaker, protests when he revokes his promise: Garrett extends her hours. Embittered, she fumes unable to leave for her son's soccer game. Rita insists Garrett stay for JENNY, his mother. Rita's pleas go unheard. Later in the evening, Garrett returns as Rita departs. While she gathers her belongings, Rita announces her resignation. Unable to sway her decision, Garrett watches her leave. He retreats to Jenny's bedroom. Jenny greets him, but she fails to recognize him. Garrett pushes her birthday dinner plans. Jenny hesitates, calling for STAN: her dead husband. Saddened by his mother's state, Garrett stays and consoles her; he lets the dinner reservation slip away.
