The Chase (2007)

An adaptation of Italo Calvino's short stories, 'The Rain and the Leaves' and 'The Chase' (16mm, 18 mins) The Rain and the Leaves: A dreamer from the countryside tries to take on the city- falls in love with a potted plant and runs riot with it through the urban desert, chasing the clouds and the rain. The plant and the man, drunk on the rain, seek a dream of escape and rejuvenation. The Chase: In the heart of the city- an interminable traffic jam- and caught still within it a deadly pursuit. A man being chased by a killer-both stuck still in a sea of cars on a silent white summer afternoon. A nightmare where nothing ever changes. What happens when the dream gets caught up with the nightmare? A juxtaposition of two visions of urban life, and their collision at the moment of crisis.
