Eleemosynary (2018)

Eleemosynary is a story about a strained actress relapsing into self-harm, found out by her rigid director who once shared her mechanism. Actress Nina Vellum finds herself the intersection of a troubled past and high-pressure role. She holds on to the negative things people have said, and has developed a barrier with others due to her negative experiences as well as the lack of empathy which she has encountered in the past. She feels she cannot express her anger and frustration, lest she be viewed as difficult to work with. Therefore, her outlet to feeling, expressing, and staying focused is self- harm. When the Director whom Nina fears more than reveres catches on to her secret, Nina finds herself at an intersection - that of a potentially ended career, or worse, allowing an authority figure to see a chink in her armor and torment her with it. What Nina does not realize is that this Director once stood at the same intersections of life. The cost of getting through to her will require more vulnerability than the Director has revealed to anyone, ever. Will it be enough to help Nina navigate her dilemmas?
