A major supporting character is graphically killed; unable to speak properly after being shot in the throat, we see his friend poke a knife into his windpipe to let him get air as he chokes to death on his own blood. The normally callous friend is seen crying and hugging the deceased character.
We see what appears to be a mass grave full of bodies; Mexican civilians cry as they sort through photos, identifying loved ones lost. Some skeletal remains are seen. It is also implied that there is a rotting stench in the area, as characters hold scarves to their noses and make faces.
A character and his friend get into a fight with a gang; we see punches thrown, as well as a drunk man attempting to aim a broken beer bottle like a gun.
A dog is euthanized (offscreen). A main character is upset by this.

Boyle and Doc come across the charred body of a man on-screen. The man's screaming, blackened face is seen, resembling a skeleton's. It is revealed that a student was killed by the troops, and that the two protagonists have unwittingly driven into the conflict.
A soldier says "the fiesta is just beginning!" just before a group of women are gang-raped and killed.
