This is a darker, more mature themed version than the usual Nutcracker presentations. The story is a romance between Clara and the Nutcracker Prince, peppered with some jealousy by Herr Drossolmeier. However there is no nudity or physical interaction other than standard ballet dancing.
There is no sex or nudity but Clara is notably uneasy and seems to be "creeped out" by her godfather Drosselmeyer, who has a smile which uncomfortably resembles a leer, and Clara behaves as if she were afraid he might try to make a pass at her. At times he appears jealous of her relationship with the Prince.
In Clara's dream, Drosselmeyer appears as a Pasha, a keeper of a harem, brandishing a whip to introduce the "Russian Dance", "Chinese Dance", "Arabian Dance", and so on. The Arabian Dance is performed by a peacock, a half-woman, half-bird that is brought to the harem in a cage.
A love triangle rivalry appears to exist between the Drosselmeyer and the Nutcracker Prince, as Drosselmeyer tries to get Clara to sit with him, but the Prince refuses to allow it.
