A gloomy small town at peace with itself on the edge of a bizarre industrial landscape. The former night watchman of the industrial complex is discovered murdered. The police inspector in charge of the case soon sees a link between the murder and an ominous poison gas depot established at the end of World War II by a Nazi partisan group called The Werewolfs. The current owner of the industry was a member of this organization. So the inspector suspects him to hide the poison in an old storehouse and make illegal business of it. And he is convinced, that the old watchman had discovered this secret and had to die for it. Parallel to the inspectors inquiries, the new watchman himself attempts to solve the mystery of his predecessor's death. He penetrates deeper and deeper into the history and mythology of the area and reconstructs a chain of mysterious deaths spanning centuries, which have always happened at the same spot. He is certain that since time immemorial a werewolf has been active on the industrial complex. A third thread of the plot follows the people in the village, who found a sort of home guard to protect themselves from an uncertain threat. In their opinion no one from their midst could have caused the old watchman's death. It must have been some social outcasts, who hide in the industrial complex. So one doesn't need the police to solve the case, but just has to go out there and find them. Things come to a chaotic clash, when the three different parties meet in the middle of a night in the industrial complex.
