Vijay's (Amitabh Bachchan) father is brutally lynched by villagers after being framed by Kancha Cheena (Danny Denzongpa), and his family is forced to flee. The young Vijay vows revenge, and grows up protecting his sister and mother by becoming a gangster himself. Eventually he works his way up the ladder until he is face-to-face with the men who killed his father, but by this time he is little different from them, and his actions have put his family in the line of danger once more.

A drunk man slaps a man.

A man admits he will behead someone.

A young boy asks his father to beat him just because he didn't teach his sister the alphabet.

A young boy throws a rock at a man in the head. He is seen bleeding. The boy is beaten by a man with a stick frequently and is later seen with marks on his back.

A group of men are seen rounding up in a house finding a teacher sleeping with a woman. They throw him out of the house, and they set his house on fire. He is seen being beaten.

A man is killed in the middle of the public road.

A woman slaps a man, and he retaliates by slapping her back, and falls to the floor. A young boy defends her by slapping him, but ends up being slapped frequently hard and gets picked up and thrown off-screen. He is later seen bruised up.

A young boy throws a flaming torch at a petrol station that explodes.

Men fire at each other continuously from their cars, and no one is seen injured. The bullet holes are seen on the vehicles. A man comes out, and is shot four times. Blood splatters, and is seen on his blazer sleeves.

Firecrackers are shown exploding.

Heavy violence throughout.

Four men kick down a door and shoot a hospital room including the bed and curtains.

A raid occurs outside a hospital where people fight against police guards. After a patient is announced to be fine, they all cheer and go away.

A man walks into a prison cell and brutally shoots 2 men. Bullet holes are seen exploding with bloody impacts and smeared on the wall.

A man is pushed from a helicopter and falls flat on the beach. Very little blood is seen spreading on the water.

A grenade is dropped from a helicopter and lands on a boat which explodes.

A man jumps out of his car and shoots up the sky to scare the villagers and raids their houses. After they capture a woman, a man jumps on the back of the car and slides with some blood shown on the bottom of his shirt as he slides.

A man shouts at another man for mentioning his wife as a prostitute and gets kicked on the ground for it.

Because a man sold the village's land, he is then surrounded by the villagers and is violently kicked out. Chased by them with huge sticks and is constantly beaten. Blood is seen on his face and on his shirt.

During a wedding, people are being shot by men in a fast car driving by with some blood splatter.
