There's a scene where a glass bottle is thrown on the highway, breaking upon impact. This later causes a truck driver to crash and release poisonous gas which starts killing all the animals in the forest.
There's a scene in which the three main characters are hunted by a big, menacing owl, which could be very scary to smaller children. And for two seconds there is also a fairly frightening moment where Abigail scares the owl back.
The scene where Michelle finds her parents dead might be frightening to smaller children.
For the majority of the film, the main characters believe everyone who lives in their forest home, including their parents, are dead.
In spite of the cover of the video, this movie is know for some thematic elements in a G rated film of its time. If theatrically released today, it would have earned a PG rating, as it is sadly unsettling.
