Le moulin des Andes (1945)

Chile, 1910. Fabien, born into a family of rich land owners, returns home to take his deceased father's place. His dominant mother is obsessed with the thought of getting the «right» spouse for him, but Fabien falls in love with Françoise, a pretty country girl of unknown origin. The mother turns to Antoinette, an elegant woman from the city, and their conspiracy seems to work out, Fabien is easily seduced. But Antoinette doesn't intend to spend her life among the cows and sheep, and neither does she want to share her new husband's attention with a meddling mother in law.
