Army of Shadows (1969)

During the German occupation of France, Philippe Gerbier, a French Resistance leader, is denounced by a collaborator and interned in a concentration camp. Escaping, he rejoins his comrades in Marseille and deals with the traitor. The narrative unfolds the grim realities faced by Resistance members: their solitude, fear, and the ever-present threat of Gestapo capture; but also highlights their unwavering commitment to their perilous cause.
