Le madri (1999)

Giulia is pregnant but wants an abortion because her mother prompts her to mistrust her boyfriend, Franco. Chiara faces a miscarriage when her father reacts violently to her pregnancy: the child's father is an African musician, and dad's a racist. Margherita, a child psychologist, has finally met Mr. Right and wants to start a family, but she must have a tumor on her uterus removed, which threatens her fertility. Stella, who has two children, is awaiting her third, and it's ten days late. Her husband, a cop, is in hospital recovering from a shooting, and Stella wants to be at his side. The four women meet in a hospital room where their hopes and fears play out.
