Having lived in each other's pockets for far too long--seventeen long years to be exact--the taverner, Diamadis Saradopoulos, and his friend and waiter, Saradis Diamadopoulos, have learned how to put up with their little idiosyncrasies. Infatuated with the neighbourhood's poor but charming young seamstress, Fani, the reluctant companions are prepared to go to great lengths to win her heart; nevertheless, she seems unable to make up her mind. But, unexpectedly, a winning lottery ticket will fire the imagination of the ripe and ambitious Casanovas, despite Fani's hesitance to choose. Should they build their hopes up?
