Gevrinette is a decent girl but her sister is no good. Their father, a traveling salesman, has little time for his daughters. As Gevrinette is bored, her sister introduces her to her world of debauchery. She takes her to the bars of Montmartre and tries to give her cocaine, which Gevrinette refuses. She is soon called "Faubourg Montmartre" as she often wanders by the neighborhood. When their father learns of this, he sends Gevrinette away to a village in the south of France to cut her from the influence of her elder. When people in the village learn of her sister's conduct, they reject Gevrinette too, except for a young man who protects her.
