Away from the World (1958)

While spending his summer vacation in the picturesque island of Poros, the young Greek Army reserve officer and aspiring painter, Evgenios Karmis, has a chance encounter with the beautiful islander, Loukiani Valianou. Head-over-heels in love with each other, the innocent lovers make plans for the future, unbeknownst to them, however, that Loukiani's strict father, Kostas, has already made arrangements for her engagement to the elegant suitor, Koulis Marinos. Then, as if that weren't enough, Evgenios has to do his part in the Korean War, leaving Loukiani all alone to deal with the complications of her father's decision. But, Loukiani only has eyes for Evgenios, and unwilling to obey her cruel parent's demand, she takes refuge in a monastery. Will Kostas see the error of his ways, and give his consent?
