There Are No Deserters (1970)

In the scorching heat of Egypt, in August 1944, a daring undercover Greek Army captain embarks on a suicide mission. The goal is to gather crucial intelligence on the German defences ahead of a decisive Allied Forces offensive. As he sneaks onto a remote Greek island, the officer must take the risk of forging alliances with the local pocket of resistance. However, the peril escalates when the Nazis capture twelve innocent men and issue a cruel ultimatum: surrender or witness their execution. Time is ticking away, but just as all hope seems lost, a repentant deserter grapples with his conscience and steps forward. Overcome with a sense of duty and honour, now the disgraced renegade faces a pivotal choice that will shape the destiny of his village and country.
