A yubistume (finger shortening), a Japanese ritual for cutting their own fingers as a punishment, is mentioned and depicted. There is a scene where a Japanese gang member cuts his fingers three times in different periods but all of the scenes only show the feeling of pain.

Just like most of the Philippine classic films, smoking is present in the film. Some of the film's characters are smokers.
