The Janissary (1953)

During the turbulent and dangerous years of the Turkish Occupation of Greece, the oppressive Ottomans systematically abducted Christian boys, to raise and educate them according to the strict Muhammadan standards. They were the caste of Janissaries. One of these Islamised Christian kids returns to his village after many years; however, now, he is a young fanatic follower of Islam, utterly unaware that, sooner or later, he will have to come face-to-face with his Greek roots, and the long-standing traditions of the nation he has renounced.
