Secretly in love with Vasiliki--his childhood friend and only daughter of his boss and kind landowner--the hard-working field worker, Konstadis, sees his world turn upside down when she makes a sudden announcement: by the end of the month, Vasiliki will be married to her Athenian fiancé, Petros. Under those circumstances and being impossible to cope with this unbearable situation, Konstadis summons up the courage to leave both Vasiliki and his beloved birthplace forever; however, a treasonous theft throws Konstadis, the village's pride, in jail. This land nurtured with blood, sweat, and tears is the land of the righteous. Is Konstadis the despicable thief?
