The Promise (1961)

Hell-bent on hurting his proud and fiercely honest opponent, Tasos Gousias, the brutal landowner, Liapouras, sexually assaults Tasos' virginal sister, Chrysa. After six long years of incarceration, unarmed Tasos returns to his village squeezed between the steep slopes of nineteenth-century Mount Parnassus and dangerous marshlands, intent on starting anew and get on with his life. However, new beginnings are always challenging, and now, Liapouras' ruthless brother, Vagias, and his murderous jackals thirst for revenge. Has excellent marksman Tasos, indeed, hang up his spurs?
