His Mother's House (1974)

Petter has just interrupted his studies at university. He has broken up with his fiancé to return to his hometown and his mother, who lives alone after the death of his father. On his journey home, he meets Eva, who is about to start teaching at Petter's old school in Gjøvik. Already on the train, a friendship develops between them, and Eva later becomes Petter's good friend. When Petter returns home, we realize that his mother doesn't mind that he has broken away to return home. The influence that his mother had on Petter during his childhood is now reflected in a strong maternal bond with the boy. Now that his mother has him with her again, the situation at home escalates when she realizes that her son is having an affair with another woman in the small town. An initially well-concealed jealousy finally breaks out into the open, revealing that she wants her son for herself - in every way.
