Zavrashtane (1989)

Five Bulgarian émigrés return to their country by submarine from the Soviet Union. They have to organize the antifascist resistance. On the shore, no one is waiting for them. They decide to separate. The first one, Otetz, hitches a ride on a cart to the village. Arrest and execution cut short his mission. The Captain hides in his house but police track him down and he commits suicide when the police threaten to kill his wife and children. Bogdan goes to his brother who puts him in touch with the partisans but they do not him when he tells about the concentration camps in Siberia. He is mistrusted and ostracized. Stefan's nerves cannot stand the strain and he gives himself up. Vlado finds himself in a village pub. When he asks for food from publican, the police surround him. He kills himself.
