Nine year old Kintoo's friend is an elderly bookseller cum restorer Baba. The magic and love of books creates a bond between them. One day Baba tells Kintoo about his grandfather's library and his favorite book among them all Arabian Nights the book whose story never ends. He recalls its sparkling cover picture and the beautiful illustrations inside. Kinto is fascinated with the idea of a story that never ends. When he visits his uncle's house in the village he discovers a tattered copy of Arabian Nights matching Baba's description. Kintoo now aspires to take the book to Baba. However this seems as impossible a task as an elephant trying to lay an egg. The phrase Haathi Ka Anda ( The Elephant's Egg ) is a joke between Baba and Kinto when Baba made up a story for Kinto about an elephant that tried to lay an egg and failed. Would Kintoo be able to achieve the impossible?
