Khatarnak (2000)

On the night of every Amavasya (New Moon), someone is murdering prominent businessmen in a small town. Inspector Pratap Tungare is in charge of the investigation and CID Inspector Mahesh Chaudhari is specially assigned to assist him. Tungare has a long-standing feud with prominent criminal lawyer Advocate Potbhare who has successfully defended several accused murderers who had been arrested by Tungare. Potbhare's daughter is in love with a local man Laxmikanth Lokhande (Lakshya) who runs a detective agency with his assistant Ranga and frequently lands in trouble with Tungare. After Raosaheb Nimbalkar - the third victim - is found dead, his brother Bapusaheb announces a reward of Rs. 2 Lakhs for anyone providing information about the killer. Lakshya and Ranga hatch a plan to grab the reward by planting false evidence which would pin Lakshya as the murderer and then get him released with the help of Adv. Potbhare, bought with the reward money.
