Two out-of-work actors, Professor Alfresco and Jerry, arrive in the small town of Killcasey looking for an easy way to make money. In an effort to cash in on the search for the rightful heir to the fortune left by Patrick Casey of Lockjaw, Kentucky, USA, they decide to impersonate lawyers looking for the rich man's descendants in Ireland. The locals scramble to have the bumps on their head be compared to those on Patrick Casey's cranium by the two unscrupulous men who charge ten shillings and six pence and use a skull that previously served as a theater prop in productions of Hamlet. One man even tries to secure one of the con artists as his son-in-law, casting the poor farmhand in love with the daughter into despair until genuine solicitors from Dublin identify him as the true heir.
