Tarjeta verde (1978)

A Latin American Success story dealing with socioeconomic, political, and immigration status issues of the time that ends in a tragedy. A story of a young Mexican girl who comes to United States in the hopes and search of a new and better life for herself that is cut short by jealousy. What she quickly realizes she needs to do like every other immigrant is get a green card "Tarjeta Verde" which enables her to legally work. She initiates the legal process with an elderly attorney who becomes an admirer of her singing talent. After she experiences several struggles with family, romantic love interests, and jobs. One day when she is singing at the restaurant she works at a well known music producer walks in. He quickly proposes to her and becomes the love of her life. She tours around the United States and becomes a well-known renowned Mexican singer. On her wedding day after the religious ceremony as they are exiting the church. Her admirer shows up in a jealous rage with a hit man who guns her down outside of the church. Ending her life and her journey in getting a green card "Tarjeta Verde".
