Ferenc Deák, who was a prominent representative of political life after the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848, is trying to bring about Reconcilation. Right now, he's in a hotel called the Queen of England with his fellow politicians, and the people are celebrating him. But the pact also has many opponents, receiving threatening letters every day. An Austrian detective arrives at the hotel and immediately becomes suspicious a recently hired waiter who, as it turns out is the brother of his first love, who is also staying in the hotel. The investigation begins, and when he learns that this is where the officers of the War of Independence are going to meet, he suddenly has a huge number of suspects.
