On April 27, 1996, Rafer Johnson received the Olympic flame via three helicopters at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum that began an 84-day, 15,000-mile journey across America -- the largest ever Olympic Torch Relay. This Opening Ceremony, conducted by John Williams and David Foster was broadcast live, worldwide on NBC.
