A Master Painter of Twentieth Century Modern Art, Joan Miro was at once both distinctly modern and a lover of history. Created with exclusive access to the Miro Museum in Barcelona, Spain, this film is a rich tapestry of art, history and personality, interweaving state-of-the-art High Definition Filming, Historic Newsreel Footage, a tour of his legendary studio and performance by La Claca Theater Group in costumes designed by Miro himself. In the film, we journey through the dazzling achievements of a master Modern Art painters and printmaker. This film covers the painters invention of the Grattage style and his adventures into Surrealism, Abstract and Modernist painting and Collages, reflecting the influence of different trends, like the pure and brilliant colors used in Fauvism, shapes taken from Cubism, influences from folkloric Catalan art, and Roman frescos from the churches. We take an in depth look at works of fine art such as Naked Flame On Naked Woman, Man and Woman In Front of a Pile of Excrement, Constellation: Morning Star, and Woman and Bird in the Night. The film also discusses his later years he concentrated more on monumental and public works. With Primal Force and infinite delicacy, Joan Miro (1983-1983) created a visual world that fused passion, sexuality, philosophy and flights of fancy into an ecstatic carnival of symbols: Stars, Eyes, Women, Birds, and objects from the Catalonian landscape and folklore of his native country, Spain.
