The Colonial War implied a justification of honour for the society of that time. Laurindinha represents one of the reason's mechanisms. It's therefore important to visit our memories, our historical legacy in order to extract all the elements that will make today's society less admissible to the logical justifications of terror. The popular song Laurindinha shows itself how a popular culture allows to be convinced of the war's apology. "Let him go". Here we have the fatalism of destiny and the abandonment of all choices to the hands of God, so engrained in the Portuguese culture. In accepting a belligerent act, this part of popular belief forgets the tragic consequences of War's effect on an individual. It eliminates the question of an individual's right to choose. "If God wishes". This film intends to show, in the most raw and realistic way, the individual tragedies as a consequence of war. Not wanting to criticize history or the values of a posteriori culture, this film intends to learn with history, hoping that the generations of today assume a more humanist and critical attitude. And that our generations honor the history and don't fall into the temptation of justifying the unjustifiable. In the name of history, the spirit of criticism and the courage of individual thinking, we feel the necessity of telling the other side of the story in the song.
