Young boys browse through an adult magazine, where a few nude female models are briefly seen with their breasts exposed.

Painted portraits of a man and woman having sex, are seen on a bedroom wall.

Two sex scenes between a husband and a wife, some moaning and thrusting, and the woman is seen in her underwear.

A boy shoots a bird with a paint gun and we see it on the ground suffering and a girl throws a rock on it, killing it.

A woman is shot in the shoulder, she falls to the ground and moans; her hand is covered with blood.

A girl is shoved in front of an oncoming car; the car swerves, spins around and crashes into a snow bank without striking the girl.

There are 10 uses of "f*ck" (one is uttered by a prepubescent girl, and another by a young boy), among several other milder profanities. There is also use of the slur r*tard.

Cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption in a few scenes, and a main character's past struggles with alcoholism is discussed a few times.

There are intense scenes
