Cai yun fei (1973)

The English title is called The young ones. This might be considered the Asian version of American Love Story. But not quite close. While both leading female characters in both films die, the Taiwanese film offers a totally different ending. The leading characters are well known throughout Asia in the 70s and 80s. The Taiwanese author, Chiung Yao, is considered a legend for producing several famous romantic novels that eventually made into Asian blockbusters and TV series.
