Deadland Dreaming (2008)

Deadland Dreaming a metaphysical thriller that follows the lives of several inner-city castaways as they seek an escape from the dysfunctional worlds in which they live. After a failed suicide attempt Leyna confronts her darkest fears as she seeks to unravel the mystery of the dreams, which haunt her. Fearing for her safety she leaves her violent, cocaine addicted boyfriend Billy who embarks on his own karmic journey, which attracts the deadly attentions of a demented drug lord and forces fearful recluse and neighbor Marvin, out on the dangerous streets that he so desperately fears. Seeking sanctuary and shelter from a sudden rainstorm, Marvin soon finds himself at his own karmic crossroads with an opportunity to face his greatest fear and know his greatest truth. Interlaced with riveting excursions into surreal dreamscapes & moments of dark, psychological terror, the film is set against the backdrop of gritty, urban America where lives intersect in stark, sun-bleached back alleys and shadowy, noir-like atmospheres.
