US communities face difficult decisions as an over-abundance of suburban deer degrade forests and increase incidence of car accidents and of lyme disease. Love of nature and childhood memories of Bambi cause conflict for decision-makers: to cull the deer herd, or to continue to risk human lives and the health of local parks and green areas by allowing the deer to continue to multiply.
