Between Worlds (2010)

What would it be like if we sank into a profound dream and our life, from one moment to the next, changed forever? Following an operation and a stroke respectively, Karin Burkhart and Werner Vogler fell into comas and nobody could say whether and how they would ever wake up. The film offers an intensive insight into an unknown world. What do people in comas experience? Can we influence their recovery? What kind of life is possible when they wake up? The film accompanies the two patients over the course of a year as they rebuild their lives and thereby hits on essential questions of our existence, our perceptions and our understanding of each other. This is a film about hope and the surprising potency of life.
