Vee, an African-Canadian R&B singer, must choose between loyalty and justice in the wake of a tragic drive-by shooting. Ex-lawyer-turned songwriter Lena suggests they do a musical benefit for the grieving parents, and Vee - hiding evidence that could bring the killers to justice - is forced to face her conflict as she and Lena perform a new song they hope will help heal the community. "Believe It", described by the Atlantic Film Festival as a "lushly musicalized drama", features Halifax performers Asia & Nu Gruv, Cindy Cain and Justin Smith, plus original R&B and rap songs. The film was written and directed by Bruce Lyons and produced by Kely Lyons; Bruce and Kely are partners in Halifax-based Truce Films.
