Modern football has long become the epitome of globalization. This is quite a different story of football - far away from the great sporting arenas. It portrays a society in which everything literally revolves around the football. In the course of the 20Th century - Sialkot - a remote Pakistan city rose to become the secret capital of the football world. The future, however, looks bleak. Automated production techniques in China became keen competition. Sialkot is about to lose ground in the war of position at the very end of the global value chain. People are portrayed whose daily life is ruled by football in a very different way - and although their individual fates may differ greatly, they all share the same economic and social dependency. The effects of structural change on a global level are highlighted within a single setting.
