Losing Knowledge: Fifty Years of Change

None | Mexico | English | 40 min

This title has not premiered yet

This documentary is set in the mountain town of Talea in Oaxaca, Mexico where Professors Laura Nader and Roberto Gonzalez have done their fieldwork. Laura has been going to the region since 1957, Roberto for the past decade. This is their eyewitness account of the impact that NAFTA and other industrializing forces have had on a once isolated and self reliant community. The changes are startling and rapid in Talea, and yet this is just one example of a larger global problem of forgetting long acquired knowledge under the imposition of foreign forces of 'progress'.
