This is an understated, yet moving film about nine kids of different ages who play the Brazilian game, 'capoeira', in a small, low-income community known as Alto da Sereia or Mermaid Hill, in the city of Salvador, in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia. It serves as a snapshot of their daily lives in which they talk about the importance of Capoeira Angola - placing special emphasis on teachings from the African Bantu tradition and its links to the Candomblé religion.
