During World War II, a handful of German U-Boats sunk about 1,000-ships in the Atlantic and Caribbean, more tonnage than the Japanese fleet sunk in the Pacific. In the first days alone, one U-Boat sunk ten transports before returning to reload. During this part of the battle at sea, the Enigma Machine and Code Breakers played a crucial part in the war during the Second World War. Also, German saboteurs were landed by U-Boats on beaches in New York and Florida, later in Maine as well as Scotland and North Sea Britain.
