Sang-woo, who has recently been laid off, has not not dared confess it to his wife and teenage daughter. In fact, morning after morning, he leaves their apartment as if he was going to the office and evening after evening, he returns home pretending to be back from work whereas in reality he has spent the whole day in the subway. What also worries Sang-woo is that his wife is pregnant with their second child and will soon give birth. Being still unemployed, this is indeed the worst possible moment for what should be a joyful event. Today is one of his numerous days in the subway. Sang-woo feels bad, obsessed as he is by this upcoming birth, which he would irrationally like to see postponed. At the same time, he feels a great deal of guilt in leaving his wife alone at such a delicate time. Strange visions trouble him all along. And the encounter with a poor young woman who begs for her baby will only accentuate the disorder that reigns in his mind.
