Shipibo... la película de nuestra memoria (2011)

In 1953, brilliant young anthropologist Harry Tschopik Jr. visited the Shipibo people of Peru's remote Upper Amazon to make a film called Men of the Montana. The Field Museum in Chicago discovered his beautiful color ethnography in the archives of the American Museum of Natural History, unseen for more than fifty years due to his early death. Its astounding images of ceremonial and daily life are a priceless cultural record for today's Shipibo. In July of 2010 the Field Museum to Tschopik's film back to the Shipibo Native Communities. In Shipibo...the Movie of our Memories, today's Shipibo elders, artists and students view the historic original film and voice the dramatic changes in their culture and their hopes for its future.
