Sean Scully Why This Not That (2009)

This film is an intimate look at the artist Sean Scully. Shot in an observational style, the main narrative thread begins with a blank canvas and ends with a completed painting. We see Scully working with great intensity in his studio in New York- rapid bursts of painting are followed by slow focused passages, which build in tempo again. From New York we travel with Scully around the world to see him unveiling exhibitions, presenting master classes and building an epic stone sculpture in the south of France. To get inside the mind and work of an artist like Sean Scully is not something that happens every day,but it is a rare and original insight that many will find rewarding.
