Zwischen Tag und Traum (2011)

In Between Days and Dreams tells the true life story of a young Austrian woman, who decided to set up a foundation 'Baan Doi' for children in Northern Thailand all on her own. The children coming to her are homeless, have lost their parents to AIDS and suffer themselves from HIV. The documentary follows Barbara as she meets a little girl found in the streets. She doesn't have papers neither a name... Together, these children of Baan Doi tell the stories of their young and eventful lives in the course of this documentary. It shows living conditions of several hundred thousand people living in Thailand who have been declared stateless due to illegal migration. Despite its oppressive topic, this documentary avoids moralization and disturbing images.
