John Gigacz was arrested in 1948 for trying to leave communist Czechoslovakia. Like many other so-called political prisoners, he was given no trial and was incarcerated in a forced labour camp. After months of hard manual work and daily communist indoctrination, he escaped and eventually emigrated to Australia. This is his story.
