A Porta Larga (2012)

SUAPE detection center in Vespasiano, Brazil, hosts female prisoners who just gave birth. They stay here with their son until they are a year old. After this period, the kids are sent home with their relatives and the mothers go back to normal prison to finish to serve their sentences. The documentary portraits the life inside the jail and the girls, through their stories, tell us about a world of hope and violence, often unknown.
