The dresses for the time period show some cleavage but most of the women are more fully covered.

A woman held in slavery is shown giving birth and her breasts are briefly visible. Other slaves in this scene are nude or nearly so but private parts are not seen.

Scenes of war violence show men killed: Some are shown charred and disfigured. Corpses of soldiers are grossly disfigured; a maggot emerges from a wound in one's forehead. People are confined to a building which is set on fire. Minor injuries are common.

A man is shot at close range. From a distance we see copious blood pooling under his body. Another man is shot at close range. From a distance we see a bloody eye socket. A man is shot from behind, and blood explodes from his chest. And a man's face is cut with a knife. Copious blood covers his face and there is a long open wound.

In a dreamworld, characters are abducted by a fantasy being, and compelled to dance to exhaustion. Back in the real world, one is repeatedly depicted as haggard and tormented by the experience.

A few times, we see from a distance a man who has been hanged. There's no obvious discoloration or distention.

Magic causes a mouth to sew shut, ears to flap away, and eyes to go white with blindness. There's no blood, and these events don't cause obvious pain.

A man is frozen and breaks into pieces. And a character is quickly enclosed and presumably crushed by a magicked tree.

A woman is brought back to life, her finger having been cut off. A finger is shown in a box several times. No blood is shown; it's not grotesque..

People are shown to be ill; coughing, choking, weak, fallen on the floor. A man is found dead, leaning forward in a chair. When he is pulled back to see his face, his eyes are open and vacant, obviously dead.

Infrequent, usually in intense anger. "God damn him" is used repeatedly in one tirade. "Hell" is heard, both exclamatory and in the Biblical literal sense.

Characters are shown smoking pipes; tobacco is traded among soldiers.

Alcohol is occasionally shown being drunk, usually not in excess.

African slaves are shown shackled and suffering in the dark hold of a ship, as a woman gives birth.

Persons believed to be insane are tackled, shackled to beds, kept locked up and away from friends and family, and drugged.

There's more than one scene of family members grieving when loved ones have died, or are thought to have died.

A threatening tornado appears in several locations. A character is trapped within it.

Drug-induced magical insanity is portrayed a couple of times by persons' heads thrashing from side to side so quickly that they blur.

This show is about magic and magicians practicing magic. You see spells being performed, some of which can seem ominous. A woman appears to be losing her mind and we see occasional scenes of her misspeaking, yelling, throwing things, being locked in a room. These scenes can seem intense to some. Dark dream sequences take place with discordant music, oddly decorated scenes and people, and confusion on the part of the dreamer.
